Training - an important part of a HVDC project

HVDC > HVDC project process > Training

The aim with the training is to give the customer's personnel the knowledge needed to ensure optimum, safe operation of the HVDC system.

ABB has developed a customer-training program: the HVDC Master Training Schedule (MTS). Most customer-training is carried out at the HVDC Center in Ludvika, except for some of the maintenance courses which are for practical reasons carried out on site.

The System Engineering part of the MTS is intended to provide a more comprehensive understanding of system principles and HVDC design. ABB has a number of advanced tools to enable the study of both steady state and dynamic behaviour of the HVDC system.

In the Operation and Maintenance part, considerable emphasis is placed on operating and maintaining equipment. The aim is to give the customers operation and maintenance personnel the knowledge needed to ensure optimum, safe operation of the HVDC system, including sub-systems and equipment.

The HVDC operator's simulator allows the trainee to practice operation of the HVDC system. The simulator features practice under normal conditions, practice of unusual or uncommon operating configurations and fault diagnosis and operator response training.
