ABB’s photo competition a success

The ABB 2005 international photo competition has proved a success, with more than 400 entries from some 30 countries reaching the company’s headquarters before the competition closed.

“We have received a wide variety of interesting and thoughtful pictures highlighting the key company messages,“ said Fiona McKerrow, head of ABB Group Creative Services. “Due to the large numbers of submissions just before the deadline, we are still processing the entries. The winners will be announced in the course of November.”

Photographers were invited to send in entries depicting ABB’s three business themes: power grid reliability, increased industrial productivity and energy savings.

Winning entries in each category will receive $500 and the overall winners in each category will receive $1,000.

The competition was run between July and mid-October. The winners will be announced on the company’s photo competition web site.

“Overall, the entries were of a high – and in some cases – exceptional standard. We thank everyone who took part,” said Mckerrow.

The winning photographs will be used to communicate and promote ABB’s key business themes in printed materials, on ABB Web sites, and in the group’s media library.

ABB has run similar successful competitions in 1999, 2000 and 2004. Photographers were invited to interpret themes such as, “Life around ABB,” and “What is Knowledge?” and “ABB’s Business Principles.”
