ABB Web design standards

The ABB Web standards are created to ensure consistency and quality on the ABB Internet sites and the ABB intranet.

By supporting and using ABB's common visual profile, you will contribute to strengthening the ABB brand internally and externally. This ensures that ABB appears as one company, and will also make our Web sites easier to use and understand.

Please note that the various sections and examples are not updated according to the current design on www.abb.com.

Overview

Introduction

A set of standard templates is available for publishing on ABB's Web channels, both ABB Internet and ABB intranet, to help you to ensure a consistent graphic design, navigation, page structure, use of colors and typography.

Page structure

The structure of Web pages on ABB Web sites includes seven main areas: Banner area, Top menu, Left menu, Masthead, Content area, Resource area and Toolbox. In addition there are some standard elements.

Navigation

User-friendly and consistent navigation are key in enabling the visitor to find what he or she is looking for.

Templates

An overview of the basic page templates for ABB Internet and ABB intranet.

Color palettes

Color palettes have been designed to build a consistent ABB identity on the Web. It is important that you ensure that the right colors are used.

Typography

The typography (fonts and size) varies for the different text elements on the Web pages. This sections tells you all about this.

Visual elements

Description of images, graphics and animations that can be applied to ABB's Web solutions.

Masthead

One of the most important visual elements on the ABB Web pages, located on top of each page. A consistent graphic element used to visualize the brand ABB on the Web.

Interaction elements

A short description of interaction elements to be used on ABB Web pages and Web-based tools and applications.

Applications & tools

Advanced applications and tools provided through the Web platform should follow the general Web standards as far as possible, but may have some special requirements.
