Building upon his work experiences, Paul moved into a sales role whereby he was given responsibility for the whole sales process of a range of specialist consultancy services. During this period he was fortunate enough to be sponsored by ABB to undertake an MBA which proved to be the most challenging experience of his career so far.

Almost two years ago, Paul was promoted to his current role of Solution Group Manager. In this role he manages a team of consultants and engineers delivering specialist design services.

"I began my career as an electrician working for ICI. This experience provided me with a good practical background whilst allowing me to study part time for further qualifications. I then took a design role within ICI’s engineering group, studied part time for a degree and worked my way up to become a chartered electrical engineer. During my time in the engineering group I was involved in many chemical plant builds and modifications giving me experience in all aspects of control, instrumentation and electrical engineering.

Becoming part of ABB opened up a broad range of opportunities for my career as well as giving me the experience of working with clients from many differing sectors. Building upon my practical experience and design skills I moved into a specialist consultancy role and enjoyed a number of years assisting clients realise their regulatory compliance obligations. This role often required me to perform business development activities such as speaking at seminars and attending conferences.

I enjoy my current management role as it allows me to work alongside a team of very talented engineers who are passionate about what they do. I can also apply some of the skills I gained from my MBA studies to grow and develop the business.
