HANNAH, Graduate Process Engineer: “I have support from a network of experts who have vast knowledge in engineering from many, many years of experience in engineering.”
I studied at UCL (University College London) and qualified with a MEng in chemical engineering in 2007. I have worked in my current role at ABB for a year as a graduate technical engineer within the energy and environment division.
The type of work I have been involved in has included evaluating energy saving opportunities identified on an American chemical site, a feasibility study of a biomass CHP plant and research for an economic evaluation of commercialising various renewable technologies in the UK’s North East region. I have also worked as part of the pressure relief team in ABB Global Consulting UK.
ABB Global Consulting has a fantastic working environment and I enjoy the variety of work. I have support from a network of experts who have vast knowledge in engineering from many, many years of experience in engineering. As part of the graduate development scheme, I was assigned a mentor to help me work towards chartered status. I have attended ABB training courses, some of which are accredited by the IChemE.
There are many career development opportunities within ABB and I look forward to future career prospects.
