During Allen’s career he has obtained chartered engineering status and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chemical Engineers, within which he is an active member of the Safety & Loss Prevention Subject Group.
“I graduated from Cambridge University as a chemical engineer and joined ICI (which subsequently became Eutech, and then ABB) where I pursued a career in process engineering design, plant commissioning and plant / production management before specialising as a safety consultant in 1991. I then led the initial growth and development of the safety consulting business. I now have a leading role in the safety solution group in ABB.
I enjoy the variety and the broad technical challenges that come with safety consulting work. Operating as a senior-level consultant as I do brings variety not just technically but also in the broad number of client contacts, amongst whom are senior executives in large international organisations. Working in the safety solution group also provides opportunities to visit new and different parts of the world.”
