Improved protection
The flexible PEXLIM opens new innovative erection alternatives in old and new applications. Due to its low weight and excellent safety under over-stress conditions PEXLIM may be placed very close to the object to protect resulting in short protective distance. Thus the margins of protection improve dramatically.

Retrofit with PEXLIM prolongs lifetime of high voltage equipment
Protection of margin is a function of - arrester protective level - electrical distance to protected object - insulation withstand of protected object Ageing reduces insulation withstand of equipment and thus the protection margin. Compensate this by PEXLIM with lower protection levels fitted closer to object. This prolongs service life of major equipment at low cost.

PEXLIM limits capital cost when upgrading an existing system
In order to increase the power transfer of an existing system, upgrading the system voltage may be possible under special conditions. By suitable selection and placing of PEXLIM arresters, the existing insulation level of the station equipment and of the power line may be kept, thereby limiting the additional capital cost to a minimum. The principle applies even to high-altitude substations.
