Sydney, Australia, 4 February 2002 - ABB Australia, part of the global technology and engineering group, announced today the appointment of John Gaskell as its new President and Managing Director.
John Gaskell, who is a UK national, rejoins ABB from Rolls-Royce, where he has been President, Global Energy Business, based in Washington, DC. He first joined ABB in 1979, spending his early career in Iran, Sweden, Saudi Arabia and Dubai. During this period, he held various senior executive positions in the power transmission, distribution and generation sectors of ABB, most recently as business area president, based in Switzerland
He succeeds Tommie Bergman, who has retired after 32 years with the ABB Group, 19 of them in Australia.
