ABB in the community
Special Olympics Video
In many towns and cities, ABB vigorously supports non-profit organizations and programs through contributions in cash and the work of employee volunteers.
In addition to that, ABB Germany is top sponsor of Special Olympics Germany.
Special Olympics
(SO) is the world’s largest sports organization for children and adults with mental retardation and is officially recognized by the IOC. Its origins date back to the year 1968 when Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the sister of J.F. Kennedy, called the first SO games into action.
We support the ideas and goals of SO. Mentally retarded individuals are often capable of much higher physical performance than they are credited with. The point is thus to rouse people’s potential – an ambition we have at ABB, too. SO helps to integrate persons with mental retardation and their families into communities and to improve their quality of life. Solidarity, equal rights and acceptance – these are the principles of SO, which can be felt at every sporting event.
The highlight of the year 2000 are the Second National Games in Berlin from 5th till 9th September.
