The Blackwater back-to-back station near Clovis,NM is owned by the Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM).


Blackwater HVDC Station.
It interconnects the Western Power Grid with the Texas Power grid. The station was constructed by BBC in 1985.

It is connected to the PNM system by a 347 km (216 mile) 345 kV line.

ABB has received a contract for the upgrading of the station. The valve cooling system will be exchanged and the control and protection
system will be replaced by the fully digital MACH 2TM system.
