The Blackwater back-to-back station near Clovis,NM is owned by the
Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM)
.
Blackwater HVDC Station.
It interconnects the Western Power Grid with the Texas Power grid. The station was constructed by BBC in 1985.
It is connected to the PNM system by a 347 km (216 mile) 345 kV line.
ABB has received a contract for the upgrading of the station. The valve cooling system will be exchanged and the control and protection
system will be replaced by the fully digital
MACH 2
TM
system.
