Country's largest HVDC power link to connect central and southern China.

ABB has supplied two converter stations for the 3,000 MW high-voltage direct current (HVDC) power link to transmit electricity from the Three Gorges hydropower plant in central China to the Guangdong province. The order is valued at US$ 360 million and was awarded by the state-owned China Power Grid Development Co. The 940-kilometer power went into commercial operation in 2004. One HVDC converter station is located at Jingzhou near the Three Gorges power plant, and the other in Huizhou near Guangzhou.
