In the UK ABB has more than 20 locations and employs around 3,800 people. These people work in the company’s two business divisions – ABB Power Technologies and ABB Automation Technologies.
Research and development is high on ABB’s agenda. The group spends more than £650 million per year on R&D which employs 1,200 people around the world. R&D resources are focussed on specific new product development, such as software, fibre optics, fuel cell systems for power generation and microturbines, as well as into the broader areas of research, including renewable energy, sustainability, nanotechnology, future automation and power technologies.
