Induction stirring in the ladle furnace (LF) gives efficient mixing of the entire melt whilst maintaining an unbroken protective slag layer. Stirring can be customised to match the needs of different LF process steps. Operation is characterised by low stirring costs, reliable and safe operation, precise logistics and optimum conditions for reproducibility production of high quality steel. Although, compared to gas stirring investment cost for induction stirring is high, this investment normally has a pay back time of one to two years.
