DUBAL is refurbishing Potlines 1, 2 and 3, and will add another 174,000 tons per year of primary aluminium to their present production
Baden – Switzerland, September 19, 2002 – ABB, the global power and automation group, was chosen by Dubai Aluminium Co. Ltd (DUBAL) in the Emirate of Dubai for their expansion known as the Kestrel Project.
The contract involves the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of the equipment, including 14 Rectifier Transformer units, associated cooling and other auxiliary equipment, DC disconnectors, collector and transfer busbar systems, and complete control and protection systems.
Dubai Aluminium Company Ltd is the largest single site aluminium smelter in the western world. With this project, DUBAL is refurbishing Potlines 1, 2 and 3, and extending them by 194 reduction cells, which will add another 174,000 tons per year of primary aluminium to their present production of 536,000 tons per year.
