Pelletizing Plant "LKAB Svappavaara"

Capacity	2.5 Million t/y of iron ore pellets
Background	Built in the 1960's, the pellet plants was in need of modernization. The cost of maintaining the old technology was high and LKAB wanted a higher availability. The new equipment will be installed and commissioned in six phases over a period of 3 years during the plant's biannual 14 day maintenance stops.
Scope of ABB	Engineering, manufacture, delivery to site, installation, testing and commissioning of: Complete electrical package including INSUM and AC Converters Eight OperateIT Process Portal Stations 17 Control IT AC800 Constrollers for 9000 I/O's
Award of contract	2003
Start of Operation	Ongoing from 2003 to 2006
