Background	Escondida already operates the world’s largest open-pit copper mine, accounting for 8% of the world’s mined copper production. Phase IV is the largest single-phase expansion of any copper concentrator in Chile’s history and will nearly double the mine’s throughput capacity. Total investment of $1billion.

Scope of ABB	Design, manufacture, delivery to site, erection supervision, testing and commissioning of: 1-Gearless Mill Drive for the SAG mill (38´, 970t/h). Drive rating 19.4MW, 9.94rpm. 3-Gearless Mill Drives for the ball mills (25´,970t/h ). Drive rating 13.4MW, 9.94rpm Medium Voltage Drives Process Control System
