BackgroundCollahuasi copper mine is situated in northern Chile, about 180km southeast of the port of Iquique, at an altitude of 4,000m. The mine was commissioned in April 1999. During 2004, the project partners completed a $584 million expansion programme at the mine. The project increases Collahuasi’s concentrator throughput capacity to 110,000 tonnes per day from 60,000 tonnes per day, giving the mine a long-term capacity of 500,000t/yr of copper.

· Harmonic Filter & Power Factor Compensation plant
