On-site training on load tap-changers helps ABB influence customer specifications in India

2015-02-06 - Providing education on on-load tap-changers and supporting customers in critical projects is the key to get closer to the customers.

The government of India has emphasized the importance of the power sector for Indian economic growth and poverty reduction. Almost all investment-climate surveys see the inadequate availability and quality of power as critical constraints to local commercial and manufacturing activity; and to national competitiveness.

Around 300 million Indian citizens live without electricity, and those with power must cope with unreliable supply. In an effort to improve the situation, the government is focusing on ways to improve the generation and transmission segments of the grid.

ABB is a reliable partner of major transformer producers in India, helping them to reduce the risk of power outages. Since 2011, ABB has been improving customer relationships by organizing technical seminars and specific installation training. Now these customers are pointing out a much closer interaction with ABB representatives.

ABB started visiting major technical consultants and industries in order to facilitate the approval process of ABB’s on-load tap-changers in their transformer specification. ABB on-load tap-changers are now reputed “best in class” for 800 kV transformers in India. As a result, ABB on-load tap-changers have been specified in Tata Power specification tender for two 500 MVA, 400 kV autotransformers.

In the spirit of continuous improvement, ABB delivers solutions that allow customers to benefit from the advantages of insulation and components for transformers that enhance safety and reliability.
