Protecting critical assets with ABB lightning protection systems

2018-04-16 - Technical customer seminar in Dhaka promotes awareness of grounding and lightning protection solutions

Lightning protection throughout the world is governed by national and international standards which stress the need for a comprehensive solution. A structural lightning protection system cannot and will not protect electronic systems from lightning currents and transient overvoltages. In order to promote awareness of a total solution to earthing and lightning protection among customers in Bangladesh, ABB organized a technical seminar and physical product demonstration.

Led by Bruno Roland and Philomene Taf of the Installation Products business from ABB in France, the first-of-its-kind seminar focused on Lightning Arrester Systems. Almost 150 customers from utilities such as Public Works Dept., RAJUK , Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, National Housing Authority, Office of the Survey of Bangladesh attended the seminar. Contractors and system integrators and many more customers from industries like F&B, pharma, solar, textile & garments and cement, were also present and took great interest in the presentations.

Local Electrification Products & Channel Manager of ABB in Bangladesh, Subrata Kr. Dey, said, “Bangladesh is an emerging economy with growing industrial and infrastructure sectors. There has never been a better time to talk about safety & security systems to safeguard buildings, equipment and lives. That is the reason ABB has taken the initiative to introduce and provide sufficient technical and product information with working principles of its Lightning Arrester and Surge Protective Devices”.
