ABB introduces the IRB 660, a state-of-the-art, dedicated palletising robot combining an extremely rapid cycle time with a 3.15 m reach and 250 kg payload, making it ideal for palletising bags, boxes, crates, bottles and more.
The IRB 660’s optimised motor power and motion performance ensure significantly shorter cycle times than competing products, while the robot’s exceptionally long reach can service up to four in-feed conveyors, two pallet stacks, one slip-sheet stack and four palletising out-feeding lines. Maximum palletising height is 2.98 m.
The robot is built using a ‘p-link’ concept, in which all cables for power, signals, buses and air are assembled inside the robot. Additionally, internal cabling is designed to keep wear and tear down to a minimum; while its IP 67 enclosure ensures the robot is built to handle the harshest environments imaginable and robust enough to ensure extra lengthy service intervals. Perhaps, most important of all, is the IRB 660’s unique blend of speed, reach and payload - providing unrivalled palletising throughput.
Enhancing the flexibility of the IRB 660 palletiser is ABB's multifunctional controller, the IRC5, which houses all key requirements for accessible programming and intuitive operation on the shop floor.
Off-line programming, including cycle time verification, is readily performed on any PC. This cuts down on, or even eliminates, costly and time-consuming testing. The graphical TeachPendant opens up fresh possibilities for creating custom designed operator interfaces – making life in the robot cell very much easier. Moreover, the IRC5’s MultiMove function allows up to four robots to run on the same controller, while built-in collision detection means the machine operation has never been safer.
All of ABB’s picking, packing and palletising robots now use a common packaging line software. Based on ABB’s advanced FlexPicker software, it provides an extremely easy-to-use, yet powerful platform for advanced packaging line performance.
