2012-11-12 - ABB, one of the leading suppliers of automation solutions for the newspaper industry, has announced the first order for its new system for handling distribution data for third party orders, MPS DistributionDataPlanner.
This was launched at the recent World Publishing Expo in Frankfurt, and the first order was placed during the show.
The management of the distribution of third-party orders is a major challenge for even the best-organized printing houses. Various factors like the wide range of external customers, each with their own IT systems, and the numerous forms the distribution can take, combine to place high demands on all involved.
MPS DistributionDataPlanner is a solution for the global importing, entry and processing of various forms of distribution data for the production of third-party products. It eliminates the need for expensive interfaces or changes to existing systems. It cuts through the complexity and simplifies the whole process, increasing transparency, eliminating errors, and gives additional flexibility to meet the needs of customers.
The system converts any CSV-based input data format (with addresses, drop points etc.) into a standard format suitable for the production systems and handles all common forms of packing and distribution.
The order was placed by the Druckzentrum Rhein Main in Ruesselsheim, Germany. The scope of supply also includes ABB’s MPS DeliveryPlanner for the handling of the transport and logistics of both in-house and third-party products.
The new systems will go into operation early in 2013.
