ABB introduces Algerian energy companies to future-proof grid automation solutions

2016-06-20 - ABB Finland and Algeria recently collaborated to present our leading grid automation solutions to Algerian electric utilities, energy companies and industry representatives at The Finnish-Algerian Energy Forum - Energy Days, in Algiers.

At the event, ABB showcased its MicroSCADA Pro Distribution Management System (DMS) for power distribution networks and industrial solutions. In addition cyber security solutions and the digital substation concept were presented to the assembled audience which included the Ministry of Industry and Mines of Algeria as well as the Ambassador of Finland in Algeria.

“ABB’s MicroSCADA Pro Distribution Management System (DMS) software presentation sparked a lot of discussion and interest amongst the audience,” said Arthur Shetko, Area Sales Manager, Grid Automation Products.

“By outlining how DMS can extend traditional SCADA capabilities and can provide geographically based network views and advanced distribution management functions over the entire distribution network, we were able to generate significant interest in our leading software.”

Today, the falling oil price is one factor that drives Algeria to seek ways to diversify power generation and strengthen their energy independency. Investing in renewables - in particular solar power due to the location of the country - is a favourable opportunity paving the way for greener and energy efficient power generation.

ABB is leading the way in enabling a stronger, smarter and greener grid and our attendance at the Energy Days event will help to reinforce our support for Algeria’s future energy independency.
