ABB to introduce OppCharge concept for e-bus fast charging in the Czech Republic

2018-03-19 - At Amper 2018, ABB’s Heavy Vehicle Charger (HVC), which is supported by the open interface OppCharge, will be presented in the Czech Republic for the first time

With the global electric bus market expected to witness a compound annual growth rate above 30 percent from 2017 to 2025, ABB is leading the way in the development of smart Heavy Vehicle Charger (HVC) charging solutions and will unveil its HVC-Opportunity Charging products at Amper 2018.

From 20-23 March, on stand No. 4.08, pavilion P at the Brno Exhibition Centre, ABB will showcase its latest solution for charging electric buses, the first time that Opportunity Charging technology has ever been available in the Czech Republic.

ABB HVC-Opportunity Charging products offer high power charging via an automated rooftop connection. With typical charge times of 3-6 minutes the system can easily be integrated in existing operations by installing chargers at endpoints, terminals and intermediate stops
This flexible and standardized platform is based on the existing CCS protocol and enables the charging of both single- and double-decker buses of any brand. Its reliable operation is enabled with minimum batteries in the vehicle resulting in reduced vehicle weight and increased transport capacity.

Sustainable transport solutions without any overhead lines are also highly attractive thanks to their flexibility in case of necessary maintenance or temporary retouring/detouring.
