ABB technologies for efficient power plants and reliable power grids

2005-06-24 - Participants at Power-Gen Europe 2005, as well as Power-Generation Day in China, will discover some of ABB’s latest technologies for power generation at two premier events at the end of June - one in Milan (Visit ABB at Fiera Milano- deactivated link, Stand 14/E20), and an ABB event in Beijing/China.

Power-Gen Europe brings together leading power industry suppliers from the pan-European market and senior scientists and engineers from around the world, creating an influential forum and exhibition for one of the world's most diverse and challenging power markets.

In Milan, ABB will spotlight products and solutions that increase power grid reliability and power plant efficiency.

In line with ABB's commitment to sustainability and as support to the implementation of the Kyoto protocol, ABB will reinforce its technologies to reduce harmful emissions. Products and solutions featured in Milan improve power plant combustion, environmental performance and the reliability of power transmission systems.

Efficiency and environmental optimization

With the Optimax power plant optimization suite ABB assists power generators to identify potential performance improvements, improve predictive maintenance and extend asset lifecycles.

Combustion Optimization for coal or gas fired units and Flame Scanner monitors improve management of combustion assets, from fuel inventory and combustion optimization to byproduct control. Power plants can pull maximum energy from fuel burned, and comply with environmental regulations.

In Milan, ABB will introduce Power Generation Portal (PGP), a new human-system interface (HSI) for its distributed control system for power plants. PGP complements ABB's 800 xA Operations - both state-of-the-art HSIs, suiting different needs of power plant operators, who require tailor-made solutions according to their requirements and regional preferences.

ABB products, systems, services and solutions make power plants more efficient and power grids more reliable. See them at Power-Gen Europe 2005 in Milan June 28-30, Stand 14/E20.

With an installed global base of 3,000 licenses in more than 600 systems, PGP is a robust information platform with simplified, reliable functions.

Network Manager SCADA
Also on display is ABB’s Network Manager SCADA system, which manages the entire power transmission grid in Italy today. Network Manager ensures safe, reliable operation and cost-efficient maintenance for electricity and gas networks and generation.

And don’t miss ABB’s EBoP offerings (electrical balance of plant), as well the latest from our medium voltage drives family - the ACS 5000, for voltages up to 6.9 kilovolts.

ABB technical experts will be available to explain how ABB products, systems and services will improve the efficiency and reliability of power generation systems and grids.

Technical papers
ABB will also present five technical papers at Power Gen. For more information, please see under attachments in the right hand menu of this page.
