ABB Robotics Technology Days 2009 in Auburn Hills a great success

2009-05-05 - Combining Partner Days, Customer Days and Friends and Family Day, Technology Week provided demos, networking, training and showcased the new Customer Center.

On April 21 and 22 ABB hosted an open house for its integration partners, current and prospective customers, and members of the trade press at our 55,000-sq-ft Auburn Hills, MI, U.S. headquarters Customer Center. ABB Robotics packed the Customer Center with over 600 customers, integrators, press and other industry influencers. Customers came from 18 states, some from as far away as California and Massachusetts.

In depth technical sessions hosted more than 1,000 attendees. This was especially impressive, given the current economic conditions.

April 23 was National Bring Your Child to Work Day. ABB opened its doors for not only employees’ friends and families, but customers’ families as well. Joe Campbell, Vice President of Sales and Marketing explained, “We understand that many of our customers work in environments that are not safe for children. Our new Customer Center was designed with visitor safety as a top priority, making it the perfect place for mom or dad to show their children the robots that they work with everyday, in a safe and secure environment.” Customers who could not make it to ABB earlier in the week, also were in attendance.

Flexppicker made with Legos featured at the auburn Hills, MI Technology Days
In addition to more than twenty live robot demonstrations, using nearly thirty ABB robots, attendees were able to have their picture taken with an over sized, “ROCK’EM SOCK’EM” robot, and see an ABB FlexPicker inspired delta robot made completely from Lego®’s. Breakfast, lunch or dinner was enjoyed by attendees in the new cafeteria.

All of this added up to an informative, fun and extremely successful event.
