ABB Force Measurement was awarded a contract from Sapa Heat Transfer AB for two Stressometer 7.0 FSA flatness control systems and one Millmate strip tension system. The measurement equipment is to be delivered to Sapa’s aluminium rolling mill in Finspång, Sweden.
Sapa is one of the leading manufacturers of aluminium heat-exchanger strip for the automotive industry. Heat-exchanger strip is, among others, used for producing different types of radiators for passenger cars and trucks. The products are manufactured at the plants in Finspång, Sweden and Shanghai, China.
The two ordered Stressometer 7.0 FSA flatness control systems are to be installed in a break-down mill, where the strip thickness reduction goes from 4.0 mm down to 0.2 mm. One Stressometer system will be installed interstand together with the Millmate strip tension system. The other Stressometer system will be installed at the exit side of the mill. The Stressometer rolls both have 34 measuring zones, each zone 52 mm wide. Strip speed is set to 400 m/minute. Maximum width of the strip is 1600 mm and minimum width is 900 mm. The Stressometer 7.0 FSA system is a control system, where ABB, besides the measurement system, will supply differential bending, skewing and cooling control.
