Software User Meeting came to Milan

Milan, 27-28 September Almost exactly half year after the Software User Meeting in Detroit, USA, the first European forum took place at ABB Italy, Milan. About 70 software users from 13 different countries were gathered in Milan during two days focused on software.

The good experience from the Software User Meeting in Detroit earlier this year led to a second meeting mainly for European software users. The purpose with the meeting was to gather software users from different industries and markets for two days of networking and knowledge interchange.

The theme for the event was Release the Power of your Software Investment.
”We are convinced that our software products will help our customers increase their productivity”, says Patric Hed R&D Manager at Robotics, Gothenburg, Sweden.

The goal with the meeting was to create loyalty among our customers by building a forum that will be a useful network for them in the future. Networking among customers and between ABB and customers are fruitful for our robot business.

The meeting became an interactive forum where the participants contributed actively with their own experiences. Mecos och Italmeccanica were two companies that presented their business and how they work with RobotStudio and Robot Application Builder in their respective applications.

”Those meetings are a great opportunity for us to get feed-back from our users. They let us know what is good with our products and what we can improve”, says Bertil Thorvaldsson, product manager for Robotics Software Products.

The first day of the meeting were focused on product training in the basic software products. The majority of the participants tried and experienced new software that they don’t work with today.

”We would like our WebWare customers to get knowledge and understanding for other software products as well. The Software User Meeting is the perfect place to present the complete software offer. When it comes to software products ABB is the strongest player on the market”, says Teemu Rantala from ABB Finland, that brought three Finnish customers to Milan.

Day two new product features and releases were presented by ABB Product Management. Also the participants got an introduction to the Software Support Portal, an online portal where the software users can continue the dialogue after the meeting, discus software problems and solutions online. Under the afternoon the participants could attend smaller groups for in-depth sessions and workshops.

The discussions in-between customers have been intensive during the two days in Milan and will most probably continue online long time after the meeting…
