ABB Reliability Fingerprint: new consulting service launched

2008-02-13 - ABB Reliability Fingerprint launched by Field Services and Reliability Services identifies and documents site opportunities for improvement in productivity, reliability and cost.

This new consulting service is uniquely structured to collect site data within key process and maintenance areas. Collected data is used to benchmark the site against industry leading process industry and manufacturing sites, using ABB World-Class Reliability® best practices databases. Areas of opportunity can then be identified and evaluated by ABB process and industry experts, who provide recommendations for sustainable improvements.

Assessment Areas
Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
OEE is a composite measure of equipment availability, production rate and quality. The Fingerprint includes a calculation of site OEE, based on collected data. The OEE scoring identifies areas for improvement.

Maintenance Performance
Maintenance and reliability practices are evaluated through staff interviews. Information regarding personnel utilization, methodology and performance criteria is gathered to evaluate existing site maintenance and reliability effectiveness.

Reliability Culture
A participative interview approach, with focus on organizational structure, processes, procedures, and roles captures data from all levels of the plant. Three primary areas of the site reliability culture are evaluated:
1. Roles and Responsibilities
2. Responsive Maintenance
3. Preventive and Predictive Maintenance

The service includes a two-week objective site assessment, report of findings, quantified recommendations for improvements as well as an actionable implementation plan.
