2008-07-16 - Satisfying demand for energy savings and reliability
The ABB Optimization Service team has recently launched its Boiler Optimization service. Strong demand is being driven by mounting energy cost, and continuing requirements for reliability, safety, and efficiency.
“To date, this service has surpassed our expectations. Customer cost savings are well beyond our initial estimates”, commented Robert Horton, US Optimization Service Business Development Manager. “We are well positioned to provide substantial customer energy savings with this offering.”
The industrial Boiler Optimization service is delivered through a three step process: Diagnose, Implement, and Sustain. These steps can be delivered separately or together, based on the specific requirement.
The diagnostic phase called the “Boiler Fingerprint” is a packaged service product. It utilizes an engineered approach, including proven methodology, and in-depth knowledge of systems and processes, to diagnose areas of optimization opportunity. It includes a comparison of current performance against benchmarks, existing controls to industry standards, and operating responses to expected capability. Boiler test results, instrumentation, control system performance, and combustion efficiency are analyzed to assess performance and improvement potential. From this data, both a performance benchmark and an actionable improvement plan are generated.
A customized implementation plan is developed, listing each recommendation, qualified by the estimated financial ROI.
Improvement services are available through ABB services to implement recommendations.
Once optimization goals have been met, ABB’s expertise is offered to sustain the financial and operational benefits gained through the optimization process.
Optimization Services are a component of the ABB Product and Systems Lifecycle Services portfolio.
