ABB launches new CP-C.1 power supply range for demanding industrial applications

2017-05-31 - ABB has launched a new range of advanced, high-performance power supplies for demanding industrial applications. The CP-C.1 range provides increased reliability and high efficiency of up to 94 percent.

Heidelberg, May 2017 - The CP-C.1 family of high-performance DC power supplies ranges from 5A to 20A with a rated output voltage of 24V DC. The units have an integrated power reserve of up to 50 percent.

The primary switched-mode of the CP-C.1 range provides a power reserve for particularly heavy loads, such as during the start-up of a process or motor. The CP-C.1 can deliver up to 50 percent of the rated current to ensure the application continues to operate as required.

With a broad AC and DC input voltage range and extensive worldwide approvals, CP-C.1 power supplies are equipped to become the preferred choice for professional DC applications. The power supplies come equipped with overheat protection and active power factor correction. Versions with ATEX certification for explosive atmospheres and coated printed circuit board assemblies are available for operations in harsh working environments.

When running in power reserve mode, a transistor out put switches and a yellow LED provides a clear visual indication of the operation status. The signal output can also be used to communicate with higher-level control systems such as PLCs.

The CP-C.1 also includes an output relay to indicate the status of the output voltage (OUTPUT OK), additionally indicated by a green LED. Depending on the logic of the higher-level control system, an appropriate action is initiated by forwarding the signal. The receptor of this signal could be a contactor, a signal tower or an interface relay.

The new CP-C.1-A-RU redundancy unit further increases operational reliability and eliminates power supply outages. The unit provides decoupling of two CP-C.1 power supply units and automatic redundant power supply operation for critical applications. The CP-C.1-A-RU and has two inputs, each up to 20 A, and one output up to 40 A.
