2005-03-24 - Power Technology Medium Voltage Products announces a price increase of 6% on all new quotations for Circuit Breaker Technology Solutions (CBTS) Aftermarket Products, effective April 1, 2005. This includes all switchgear components, refurbishments, and service.
ABB must respond to the unprecedented increases in the costs of the major commodities used in our equipment (steel, aluminum & copper). The average market increases are as follows:
- Carbon Steel - increased >50% over 2003 baseline
- Aluminum - increased >33% over July 2003 baseline
- Copper - increased >59% over July 2003 baseline
ABB has placed significant efforts to offset the price increases due to commodity material cost increases, however, because of the unplanned impact and the unforeseen longevity of these increases, ABB must implement this price increase.
These increases are being driven by the global commodity markets. ABB will continue to deliver the greatest value to our customers to ensure their competitiveness in these ever changing market conditions.
