2004-09-27 - High temperature motors from ABB are now available in a new standard range, providing a cost-effective alternative to custom models for use in demanding environments.
Designed for applications that require high performance in temperatures up to 90°C, the ABB range can also work in 100% relative humidity and in corrosive environments. With delivery times from 24 to 72 hours, ABB brings fast delivery of high temperature motors to users in areas such as the metallurgical and wood industries, brick and glass manufacturing, and food production.
Constructed in cast iron or aluminium and coated with a tough, multi-layer epoxy surface treatment, the range is fully protected against corrosion, both inside and out. Frame sizes are 160 to 250 for cast iron frame and 112 to 132 for aluminium frame, available with 4 poles (1500 rpm) from 4 to 55kW and with 6 poles (1000 rpm) from 2.2kW to 37kW.
Other features include a high-efficiency cooling fan, high temperature grease, high temperature insulation (class H), built-in thermistors for temperature monitoring, IP55 protection with drainage holes, rustproof stators and rotors, and stainless steel nipples for regreasing. The motors are fitted with C4 clearance bearings, which offer the clearance needed to provide for heat expansion. Permanently greased bearings can be supplied as an option.
The newly designed terminal box is roomy and easy to work with and the motor itself can be ordered in a variety of configurations to suit a range of conditions, including various positions of the terminal box, with or without the cooling fan, and a standby heating system for use in humid conditions.
