Spreading the word on efficiency at Wales Water 2015

2015-05-29 - ABB’s Emax 2 was on centre stage at a conference hosted by Water & Wastewater Treatment magazine on 20th May.

Wales Water 2015 was a one-day conference in Cardiff which brought together more than 140 delegates from central and local government, the environment and economic regulators, water utilities contractors, NGOs and consumer bodies.

By sponsoring the event, ABB gained the opportunity to make a presentation directly to senior decision-makers in the water industry in Wales, including representatives from Dŵr Cymru, Dee Valley Water and Severn Trent Water.

Central to ABB’s presentation was the Emax 2 low voltage air circuit breaker. The new circuit breaker was launched in 2014 and has huge potential to help operators in the water industry manage and prioritize loads to operate more efficiently and save energy bills.

Rob McCaskie, Product Marketing Manager for Low Voltage Breakers and Switches delivered the presentation on the Emax 2 and its power saving potential. In his presentation he explained how the water industry accounts for around three percent of the UK’s total power demand, most of which is channelled through low voltage circuit breakers.

Paul Hartley, the Panel Builder Manager for ABB Low Voltage Products said: “The Wales Water 2015 conference was an opportunity to reach out to senior decision makers in the water industry and let them know about the offering and capability of ABB, especially of the Emax 2 and its potential to help them reduce OPEX costs with efficient operations.”

The Emax 2 has a Network Analyser built in to monitor and eventually communicate network parameters. Its ability to communicate on multiple optional protocols, including the TCP/IP option, makes it versatile. It combines high performance and compact size with low energy losses and multiple best in class features.
