The first 220 kV and 60 MVA MFM transported on a single trailer will power up the energy grid in Algeria‬

2013-07-18 - Strenghtened cooperation between ABB and ESI (Energy Services Inc.) awarded four MFM mounted on trailers which will be installed in a turbo-gas power station in Algeria.

Previous experiences with ESI (Pratt & Whitney affiliated engineering group) in 2010 and 2011 in which ABB delivered a total of 22 MFM ahead of the contract delivery schedule, helped winning the new contract.

The compact size of the proposed solution and the delivery date within less than six months, together with the previous experiences, guaranteed the order of the four new modular solutions.

These are the first 220 kV and 60 MVA MFM completely contained and installed on a single trailer. This is a compact solution which will use 220 kV PASS circuit breaker integrated with the power transformer.

The integrated design and the direct connection are developed on the base of the MFM concept which allows ABB to acquire a more compact perspective, greater technical efficiency and a reduction in delivery times.

MFM is the new modular concept for building substations. A range of modules fully assembled and tested in the factory and designed for easy transportation and installation. MFM is an solution for permanent or temporary electricity distribution or generation installations.
