ABB wins 4 awards at China Automation Industry Annual Conference

Beijing, May 7, 2015 - At the China Automation Industry Annual Conference 2015 (CAIAC 2015) and the 10th annual Chinese Automation Industries Event held in Beijing last month, ABB was awarded in four prestigious categories: “Top 10 Automation Enterprises of 2014”, “Top 10 Competitive Innovative Products of 2014”, “10 Most Influential Engineering Projects of 2014”, and “China Automation Team of the Year in 2014". These awards demonstrate ABB’s leading position in automation, especially in the fields of R&D capability, engineering services and comprehensive strengths.

The CAIAC is hosted by the Chinese Association of Automation (CAA) and has been held each year since 2006. The event aims to recognize the progress and highlights of the past year within the Chinese automation industry based on a “fair, impartial, transparent, and professional” standard. The 2014 award recipient selection began in December 2014. After initial candidate recommendations, expert evaluations, and online voting over the course of four months, the committee decided on the winners of the 2014 awards.

The “Top 10 Automation Enterprises of 2014” award commends influential and credible enterprises that have exhibited outstanding performance in innovation, growth, localized investment, and business management within China's automation industry. Since founding its first joint venture in China in 1992, ABB has consistently offered customers localized whole-value-chain automation services and solutions with the “In China, for China and the world” strategy. In September 2014, ABB unveiled the world's first truly collaborative robot, YuMi, an advancement that makes human-robot collaboration a reality. YuMi is a humanized, dual-armed robot that can operate in very close collaboration with humans thanks to its inherently safe design, thus fully ushering in the new era of robotic coworkers. In April 2015, ABB officially launched this revolutionary robot into the market at the Hannover Messe in Germany. At the 2015 CAIAC, YuMi was named one of the “Top 10 Competitive Innovative Products of 2014”.

The South-to-North Water Diversion Project is key state endeavor designed to alleviate the water shortage in northern China. The project follows a lengthy route, covers a broad affected area, and has high technical requirements. The Huinanzhuang pumping station on the middle route of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project is a key pressurized water conveyance system under the emergency water supply project (Beijing - Shijiazhuang). ABB has provided the pumping station with an efficient, reliable drive system that includes drives, transformers, motors and other equipments with strong technical support for the reliable operation of this significant project. At the 2015 CAIAC, the Huinanzhuang pumping station was rated among the “10 Most Influential Engineering Projects of 2014”.

In 2014, ABB’s low-voltage OEM team provided reliable operation and maintenance of new energy equipment through its tailored-made, low-voltage products and services. Through localized production and R&D, the team provided Chinese OEM enterprises with high-quality products that meet both domestic and foreign requirements, thus helping China’s OEM enterprises to strengthen their competitiveness. With improved customer management system, the team provided efficient, one-stop service in areas such as technology exchange, product selection, installation and commissioning, inventory and delivery, as well as after-sale services. As a result of these impressive achievements, the team won the well-deserved “China Automation Team of the Year in 2014" award.
