2007-04-11 - BNG Steel Company has ordered a Stressometer 7.0 FSA flatness measurement and control system for the rolling mill in Korea. BNG Steel, with head quarters location in Changwon, is the leading cold-rolled stainless steel producer in Korea with the longest history and the largest capacity of 290,000 tonnes per year. Established in 1966 as Korea's first specialty steel producer, BNG dominated the market with a 25% market share in 2006.
The ordered Stressometer 7.0 FSA flatness control system is to be installed in a 20-high Sendzimir mill. Mill builder is Waterbury Farell. The Stressometer Seamless roll has 26 measuring zones, each zone 52 mm wide. Strip speed is set to 400 m/minute. Maximum width of the strip is 1280 mm and minimum width is 600 mm. ABB’s Stressometer 7.0 FSA (Flatness Server Architecture) installation is a complete flatness measurement and control system.
BNG manufactures a wide range of cold rolled stainless steel products such as the 300 series (Ni-Cr, Ni-Cr-Mo) and the 400 series (13% Cr, 17% Cr). Generally, the 300 series are considered to have better quality and, therefore, fetch higher prices in the market.
BNG's representative product is the Type 304 series, mainly used for manufacturing household & catering equipment, processing and construction materials. BNG is the dominant market leader in the stainless steel building exterior market.
