Growing our business through valuable partnerships

2017-09-18 - Agreement with Philippine electrical power constructor to expand ABB’s market presence

ABB in the Philippines President and Country Managing Director John Fyfe, and Head of Key Account Management Jojo Mendoza, together with Loweh Joe Tomas and Nolan Enriquez of LJ Industrial Fabrication Inc.

As a result of months of careful planning and meticulous discussion, ABB signed a five-year channel partner agreement with LJ Industrial Fabrication Inc. (LJIF), forging a strong and strategic partnership between the two organizations to capture market opportunities for growth.

ABB’s partnership with LJIF could translate into an increased share in the local low to medium voltage markets, which used to be dominated by a close competitor. By harnessing LJIF’s strategic networks, ABB stands to increase its share in these markets from 6% to 20%, and over a span of three years grow by up to 108%. This can be made possible mainly by participating in large-scale development ventures in the country, some of which form part of public infrastructure projects worth around $70 billion that the present government will be undertaking until 2022.

“LJIF has successfully established itself as one of the most respected panel builders in the Philippines. In addition to their deep understanding of market complexities and demands, ABB can leverage the strategic business relationships that LJIF have formed within the industry to increase our market influence and preference. Together, ABB and LJIF intends to grow with, as well as for, the markets they serve,” said John Fyfe, President and Country Managing Director for ABB in the Philippines.

The partnership is also set to gain more market installed base, as it will form part of the panels that LJIF will offer to its customers. “Through the increase in installed base, ABB can further grow its service business by providing customers with expert and dedicated technical assistance for their installations,” said Paul Thomas, Country Service Manager, Philippines.

Loweh Joe Tomas, LJIF Chief Executive Officer, said, “We welcome this mutually beneficial partnership with ABB. Apart from being a forward thinking organization that carries a broad portfolio of products and systems that anticipate the demands of the times, this collaboration will allow us to identify growth for opportunities, address and prepare for current and forthcoming requirements efficiently, and ultimately help us realize our respective business objectives.” LJIF will incorporate ABB’s low and medium voltage components into their panels, allowing them to offer complete electrical panel solutions to its consumers and end users.

Regional managers, including Johan de Villiers, Managing Director for ABB in Singapore and Southeast Asia; Sami Raitakoski, Lead Division Manager – Asia Pacific, Electrification Products, and Emil Holmer, Regional Sales Manager – Asia, Protection and Connection Business, recognize the enormous potential of ABB’s partnership with LJIF. “Both parties aim to leverage each other’s latent strengths – ABB’s diverse range of electrification products and solutions, and LJIF’s strategic business connections with decision makers and specifiers within the industry – to be able to achieve their mutual objective of becoming recognized and trusted leaders in the Philippine electrical industry,” said Johan.
