Offshore Europe 2009 - ABB demonstrates ‘total integration’ solutions

2009-07-20 - Demonstrating how to integrate the total automation, safety, telecommunications, electrical and power systems within an offshore environment, and supporting it throughout its lifecycle, is the theme of ABB’s stand (663) at this year’s Offshore Europe at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, 8th to 11th September 2009.

ABB will be exhibiting its systems, products, expertise and services for the offshore oil and gas industry. Visitors will see a number of products and systems highlighting the many skills that ABB brings to the industry for both surface and sub-surface applications.

Automation, Control & Safety

System 800xA, ABB’s advanced process control system will be on display as part of an Extended Operator Workplace (EOW). The system can be used for the entire range of control functions as well as the gathering and integration of management information to improve the efficiency and productivity of offshore facilities. The EOW provides many key advantages to ensure maximum productivity and efficiency from operators.

Also on display will be ABB’s latest SIL3 rated safety system. Based on 30 years of activity in this key area, the exhibit on stand no 663 will outline the system’s key features for the total safety of processes and operatives.

Drives & Motors

ACS2000 - the newest member of the ABB medium voltage AC drives family will be on display. The air-cooled general purpose drive provides simple and reliable motor control for a wide range of applications within the oil & gas sector such as pumps, fans and compressors. It is designed for easy installation, fast commissioning and efficient maintenance, reducing the total cost of ownership.

Also on display will be a low voltage AC motor for hazardous areas, suitable for variable speed drives, and covers all standards and protection types used in the oil and gas industry.

Low Voltage Systems

The MNS 3.0 range of fully type tested modular Motor Control Centres will be on display at Offshore Europe. The exhibit will show the latest design utilising a rear cable access solution up to Form 4 Type 7 together with a fully type tested Busbar system and arc fault containment design to IEC 61641. In addition, the cubicle will also show withdrawable and fixed starter types with a range of intelligent and conventional control options.

Instrumentation

Differential Pressure (DP) flow meters, which find widespread application within the oil and gas sector, are robust devices used to measure the rate of flow of a liquid or gas. The latest DP technology employed in ABB’s OriMaster, Torbar and Sub Sea Meters will be on display.

Other products from ABB’s vast instrumentation range will include field devices for measuring and monitoring temperature and pressure plus process recorders and controllers.

Engineering Services

The stand will also highlight ABB’s technical consultancy providing support to onshore and offshore oil and gas processing operations to improve operational performance and to meet regulatory compliance. The leading edge consultancy enables clients to extend the life of their offshore facility, retrospective HAZOP, alarm management, retrospective SIL Determination and improvement, integrity management and process safety management of the process facilities.

Service and Support

To complete the portfolio, ABB will illustrate its full range of power and automation services which allows a plant to maximize its productivity and minimize its lifecycle costs. In depth knowledge and expertise means ABB Service is uniquely qualified to help manage every aspect of a plant’s equipment throughout its life.

With over 10,000 service professionals worldwide, ABB is committed to supporting customers, ensuring performance optimisation of their equipment and plants.
