3 Phase Motor Protection Provided
The PLMU series provides protection against premature equipment failure caused by voltage faults on the three phase line. Replacing a typical OEM 3 phase line monitor with the PLMU actually improves and extends the level of protection provided. Many of the typical low cost OEM line monitors provide protection based on a voltage averaging design. This design does not provide adequate protection against single phasing when regenerated voltages are present. Regenerated voltages occur whenever a three phase motor is rotating and single phase is lost. The PLMU three phase line monitor uses a second generation microcomputer circuit design that senses under and over voltage, voltage unbalance, phase loss, and phase reversal. Protection is provided even when regenerated voltages are present. The unique autoranging circuitry automatically selects the nominal operating voltage when connected to the incoming supply.
