ABB signs strategic cooperation agreement with Sinopec Engineering (Group) Co., Ltd.

The two companies will jointly develop global petrochemical markets

Beijing, April 17, 2015 - ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, announced that it has signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Sinopec Engineering (Group) Co., Ltd. (SEG) to establish a global strategic partnership. This marks a new phase of cooperation between the two companies after years of building a solid relationship.

This agreement includes all of ABB’s power and automation products, services, and solutions. Additionally, ABB will provide SEG with product and technical support in domestic and overseas petrochemical markets. By leveraging their respective advantages and by integrating resources, the two companies will jointly develop these markets.

“ABB China companies are increasingly involved in overseas petrochemical projects and we provide Chinese customers with products and services of international standards, so as to develop overseas markets together. By leveraging on our international experience and global presence, we’ll provide SEG’s overseas projects with products, technologies, and services to meet their requirements,” said Peter Todorov, Senior Vice President of ABB (China) Limited and Head of Account Management and Industry Sector Initiatives at ABB China.

As one of the largest engineering construction companies in China and the world, SEG focuses on providing integrated engineering services and technical patents for domestic and overseas refining and chemical engineering markets. SEG’s businesses cover design, consultancy and technology licensing, EPC, construction and equipment manufacturing. As of December 2014, SEG’s newly-signed contracts exceeded RMB60 billion, with backlog exceeding RMB100 billion. In 2015, SEG will continue to focus on business opportunities brought by the “One Belt One Road” initiatives.

ABB has successfully cooperated with SEG in countries as Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Kuwait. In these oversea markets they have provided end users with power and automation products and solutions used in petrochemical plants including automation control systems, electrical system integration, gas-insulated switchgears, transformers, low and medium-voltage switchgears, instrumentations, high-voltage electric motors, and transformer substation project design. By further understanding the specific needs of end users and SEG, ABB has delivered products, plans, and innovative services with satisfying cost performance.
