At the same time, ABB wins "Best Employers of the Industry"—the only company to win such an honor in the power sector

Beijing, June 9, 2014 – According to the “2014 China Best Employers of College Graduates” results recently released by the Ministry of Education (MOE), the world’s leading power and automation technology group ABB is selected as one of the "2014 China 100 Best Employers of College Graduates" and one of the "Best Employers of the Industry". ABB is the only company winning the honor in the Chinese power sector.

The "2014 China Best Employers of College Graduates" campaign is a large-scale event led by the Department of College Student Affairs of the MOE and organized by the National College Student Information and Career Center. The event adheres to the principles of “fair, open, and public”. The final selection results came out after more than 8 months of recommendations, online selection and expert evaluation.

SweeSeng Lee, head of Human Resources for ABB North Asia and China, said: "Talent is the driving force for the long-term development of ABB. Over the years, ABB has always attached great importance to local talent training, actively recruiting outstanding college graduates and other professionals into the company and providing them a broad platform for career development. This creates perfect synergy between the company's business development and our employees’ personal career planning."

Every year, ABB goes to various major Chinese universities and colleges to hold campus recruitment and promotion activities to bring fresh talent into the company. ABB also offers internship opportunities for college students to accumulate work experience before graduation. In 2013 alone, ABB provided more than 500 internship positions to college students across China.

ABB pays great attention to social education and cultivation of professionals, sparing no effort in living up to its corporate social responsibilities. From 2012-2014, ABB has held its annual University Innovation Contest (UIC), which is designed to stimulate the innovative spirit of college students, find local creative talents in the field of power and automation, and provide college students a platform to communicate with industry experts and scholars. For 10 consecutive years, ABB has also funded scholarships for underprivileged students through the "ABB - New Great Wall Fund". In total, ABB has given nearly RMB11 million to the fund. Students majoring in electrical engineering and automation at Chinese universities and colleges can use these scholarships to complete their studies. So far, more than 2,000 college students from 44 Chinese universities and colleges have benefited from it.

ABB regards universities as its strategic partners. In recent years, ABB has cooperated with many Chinese universities on comprehensive research projects and has established joint laboratories with universities including Chongqing University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Fuzhou University and Xiamen University of Technology. Since 2010, ABB’s Corporate Research Center in China has conducted 28 research projects with 16 domestic universities and research institutions.
