ABB statement

2010-01-08 - ABB confirms that there was a shooting at our St. Louis facility on January 7. According to St. Louis police authorities, four people were killed, including the gunman, and five were wounded.

This is obviously a very sad day for ABB, and our thoughts are with our employees and their families. ABB has made arrangements for counseling services to be provided over the coming days and is making certain our people in St. Louis get the support they need.

The St. Louis plant will be closed on Friday to accommodate further police investigation. ABB is working closely with local authorities, and will continue to monitor the situation as it develops.

Joe Hogan, ABB's CEO, said: "I am deeply saddened by this news and would like to express my greatest sympathy to those who have been touched by this tragedy. We have rapidly responded to this situation, and we are making certain our people get the support they need. However, this is not a loss only felt by the US. I hope our people in St. Louis are comforted by knowing that the thoughts of thousands of ABB colleagues all around the world are with them at this most difficult of times."
