Updates to ABB’s Easy Rail Designer-3D software makes terminal block design even faster

2018-05-03 - More customizable options and an expanded database provides complete coverage for railway, HVAC and solar applications

ABB has updated its Easy Rail Designer (ERD-3D) software with a new release that will make the company’s Entrelec terminal block solutions easier than ever to work with. The software update provides the enhanced capability required by railway, HVAC and solar applications with personalized drawings and high numbers of rail assembly variants.

ABB’s ERD-3D user-friendly software expedites the entire design process, creating bills of materials, drawings and sales proposals for terminal block assemblies. The Windows interface includes an auto-correct that catches mistakes instantly, and a powerful search engine that filters parts by segment, range, function, standard and technical properties.

The new version of the software integrates ABB’s complete railway product range for the first time into a product database system that is supported by live automatic updates. There is also more scope for users to personalize projects by adding their own logos and part numbers to drawings. The updates also make the software compatible with ABB’s MG3 and AMS printers.

Christophe Louis-Chevrau, global product manager for ABB’s Connection business and project leader for Easy Rail Designer, said: “ABB products and services make it easier to deliver the best possible solution. Having the right terminal blocks for the job is critical: upgrades to the ERD-3D package make Entrelec terminal block solutions even faster to design and integrate. Customers working on railway, HVAC and solar applications in particular will find ERD-3D a huge time-saver.”

Customers making Entrelec terminal blocks part of their solution can use ERD-3D to manage multiple projects, importing and exporting supplier, integrator and user data. The updated software also enables users to incorporate their own technical data and products into the drawings. Exporting drawings for use in the main CAD/CAE packages, complete with detailed diagrams of the terminal block assemblies and their markings, is also straightforward.

ABB’s Entrelec terminal block range is among the most widely recognized and trusted for industrial and building applications. The space-saving, industry standard DIN rail mountable module terminal blocks carry UL, CSA, VDE, IEC and other worldwide approvals. Its robust and secure screw clamp connections mount on industry standard DIN rails.
