Corus Aluminium Walzprodukte has ordered a Stressometer 6.0 FSA flatness control system for the rolling mill in Koblenz, Germany.

The ordered Stressometer 6.0 FSA flatness control system is to be installed in a 4-hi single stand mill. The strip thickness reduction goes from 9mm down to 0.9mm. Mill builder is SMS-Demag. This will be the longest Stressometer roll ever to be delivered, 4020 mm between the shafts journals. The Stressometer roll has 55 measuring zones, each zone 52 mm wide. Strip speed is set to 360 m/minute. Maximum width of the strip is 2800 mm and minimum width is 1600 mm. The Stressometer 6.0 FSA system is a control system, where ABB, besides the measurement system, will supply bending, skewing and on-off cooling control.
The rolling mill operation in Koblenz started in 1964 and after a number of changes in ownership the new business unit structure was introduced in 2000: Corus Aluminium Rolled Products consisting of Corus Aluminium Walzprodukte GmbH, Koblenz (Germany) as Headquarter and production plant and two additional production plants in Belgium and Canada: Corus Aluminium N.V., Duffel (Belgium) as well as Corus L.P., Cap-de-la-Madeleine (Canada).
