ABB Acquires Cavanna’s Single Phase Electronic Sectionalizer

ABB expands product portfolio with Argentinean company’s Single Phase Electronic Sectionalizer

Zurich, Switzerland, January 11, 2007 - ABB, the leading power and automation technology company, announced today it has acquired the Single Phase Electronic Sectionalizer product line from Cavanna S.A.C.I.F.I. based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Single Phase Electronic Sectionalizer will carry the AutoLink brand name.

The AutoLink electronic sectionalizer provides an economical solution for sectionalizing over head distribution lines thus improving system reliability and providing the customer with unique flexibility; both the number of counts and the actuation current can be set and reset on the product to adjust to specific coordination needs. Additionally, unlike other products in the marketplace, the AutoLink does not require any tools for resetting. These combined features equate to reduced inventory and labor for our customers.

“This acquisition is an excellent fit for our overhead distribution portfolio. This addition will help meet our customers’ needs for improved reliability on overhead distribution networks in a cost effective manner. This investment demonstrates ABB’s commitment to be the leader in feeder automation solutions”, said Markus Heimbach, head of ABB's Medium Voltage Products Business Unit.

ABB (www.abb.com) is a leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve their performance while lowering environmental impact. The ABB Group of companies operates in around 100 countries and employs more than 111,000 people.
