ABB control and instrumentation technology supports new water infrastructure in Egypt

2016-09-14 - An integrated package worth about $9 million will support the economical, safe and trouble-free expansion of a potable water and waste water network in New Cairo, Egypt’s newest city

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has been selected by the Construction Authority for Potable Water and Wastewater (CAPW) to provide a complete instrumentation, control and monitoring solution for the first phase of a new raw water transfer project that will deliver 2 million m3 of water daily, enough to serve 10 million people a day.

ABB is providing the state-of-the-art Distributed Control System (DCS), instrumentation and monitoring solution for intake pumps at the Nile River in El Maadi, three booster pumps, 37 valve chamber checkpoints and the water treatment plant. The instrumentation package includes electromagnetic flow meters, pressure and level transmitters, flow and level switches, residual chlorine analyzers, remote terminal units (RTUs), and water leakage detection package.
