ABB and Swiss train manufacturer Stadler Rail AG
A £20 million order for power electronics traction equipment has been awarded to ABB by Swiss train manufacturer Stadler Rail AG. The new trains will go into service in Switzerland, Germany, France, Hungary and the United States.
ABB is supplying integrated traction drive and auxiliary power supply converters together with traction transformers. The equipment will be installed in 80 multiple-unit regional trains of the FLIRT (fast, light, integrated regional train) and GTW articulated rail car series.
Further orders are expected from Stadler for trains in Algeria and Poland.
