2009-08-17 - ABB Jefferson City collects 60 pints of blood for the Community Blood Center
After being named the “2008 Top Business Provider in Central Missouri” by the Community Blood Center for blood donation, ABB Jefferson City continues its quest to be named number one once again in 2009. As a first step in this quest, approximately 60 pints were collected on Wednesday, July 15.
ABB Jefferson City partnered with the Community Blood Center in 2007 because it only allows the blood it collects to be available in a six county area of mid-Missouri, which is an important factor for the donors and their families in Jefferson City. Through their donations, the life that an employee saves may very well turn out to be that of a loved one or a neighbor.
The Jefferson City plant donated 135 pints in 2008, 111 in 2007 and is striving to eclipse the 2008 total in 2009. With another drive scheduled in December, they fully expect to add seven to eight gallons to their two-and-a-half year 38.25 gallon collection grand total.
