ABB Appoints New Head of Corporate Communications

Zurich, Switzerland, November 2, 1998 - ABB, the international engineering and technology group, today announced it has appointed Björn Edlund to Senior Vice President and head of corporate communications. In this position, Edlund reports directly to ABB President and Chief Executive Officer, Göran Lindahl.

Edlund (48) joins ABB after more than 20 years in communications. For more than four years, he was head of corporate communications at Sandoz in Basel until the company‘s merger with Ciba in 1996. From 1989 until 1992, he was a senior consultant with the Rowland Company, a business communications agency, in Zurich.

From 1977 until 1989, Edlund was a foreign correspondent and news executive with United Press International and later Reuters in Sweden, Germany, Spain, Mexico and Argentina. Most recently, he has run his own communications consultancy in Basel.
