ABB introduces remote condition monitoring for rotating machines

2017-04-25 - Rotating Machines Performance Service among ABB Ability offerings

April 25, 2017, Westerville, Ohio USA – ABB launched Rotating Machines Performance Service as a part of their Advanced Digital Services powered by ServicePort. This new service provides predictive maintenance guidance for rotating machines in order to improve uptime, safety and efficiency of compressors, pumps, turbines, electrical motors and generators. This improves process industries operations.

Rotating Machines Performance Service is among the offerings comprising ABB AbilityTM, a digital platform that connects ABB customers to the Industrial Internet of Things. With this service, equipment status is obtained using smart devices that collect process, mechanical, electrical and control data. This is aggregated into and analyzed by the ABB ServicePort Service Delivery Platform to identify, categorize and prioritize predictive maintenance actions. These actions are presented as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that make it easy for service personnel to mitigate asset and process risks. Users click on the KPIs to identify the source of issues, and to take actions to avoid process disturbances or equipment failures.

Data from multiple sites may be aggregated into remote ABB Collaborative Operations Centers to assist in optimizing enterprise performance. An entire fleet of monitored assets, along with monitored processes and risks, can be displayed on a single dashboard view. This level of data analytics and insight empowers operations, engineering and business managers to make better and more informed decisions to optimize business results.

“Rotating machines are vitally important for many process industries producers,” said Johan Vermeiren, Head of ABB Industrial Automation Service and Digital. “We have been providing data analytics and predictive maintenance for many assets, processes and risks for years. We are pleased to add rotating machines to that list. Customer reception is strong.”
